Responding to a 911 call early Wednesday, police found a man asleep behind the wheel of his car with the engine running, according to an arrest report.

The caller who phoned police was Shane Dever Malley, the very man police say they arrested after finding him slumped over in his car near the intersection of N. Congress Avenue and Watertower Road.

Malley told police he called 911 through the OnStar system in his vehicle. When police woke Malley up, the 21-year-old had his foot on the break and had “an over-powering smell of alcoholic beverage” coupled with slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, the report said.

Police said that Malley nearly fell out of his car as he was getting out, had his pants fall down at the beginning of a road sobriety test and “had (an) accident” while undergoing the sobriety test.

Police labeled Malley’s attitude as “sarcastic.” When asked when he began drinking, Malley replied, “At 14 years old.” Malley told police he didn’t know what day or time it was.

Malley, of Palm Beach, lists his occupation on the arrest report as a diamond dealer.

Malley is facing a charge of DUI and was released from the Palm Beach County Jail Wednesday on his own recognizance.
