Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc., announced it is voluntarily recalling a limited number of cases of baby spinach in 10 states because of salmonella concerns, the company said in a news release Friday.
The company said it was recalling 6-ounce bags of Dole Baby Spinach and 10-ounce Dole Baby Spinach clamshells, according to the news release.
The spinach was sold in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin, according to Dole and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall was triggered when a random sample of baby spinach tested positive for salmonella in a test conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Michigan, the USDA said.
The 6-ounce Dole Baby Spinach bag has lot code W20308A and UPC code 0-71430-00964-2, while the 10-ounce Dole Baby Spinach clamshell product has lot code W203010 and UPC code 0-71430-00016-8, Dole said in its release.
Both products had "use-by" dates of Aug. 5, 2019.
Dole officials said they were working closely with regulatory officials, adding that no illnesses had been reported in association with the products that were recalled.
No other Dole products are included in the recall, the company said in its release.
