An Oregon couple made an unexpected discovery thanks to a drought that has been plaguing the West Coast and bringing with it below-average water levels.

Wesley Clancy and his girlfriend recently went to Hagg Lake and found a camera sticking out of the mud along the shore, KATU reported.

The shore is much larger than normal due to the lack of rain.

The camera was rusted shut, but Clancy was able to remove the SD card and view the photos it contained, KATU reported.

They took to social media, looking for the photos' owners, which appear to be from a trip to New Orleans for a wedding.

"I saw the whole trip (and) the progression of the trip. From them getting ready and packing, the kids at the house, the airport (and) in the minivan," Clancy said.

The final photos appear to be taken from a boat on Hagg Lake.

Thanks to news stories that went viral, Clancy found the camera's owner.

Misty Jimenez and her husband lost the camera in 2012, spending hours digging in the mud looking for it, the couple told KATU.

They contacted the station a day after Clancy's story aired.

They met up Sunday, three years after they lost the camera.
