Dee Dee was last seen being taken by a couple Oct. 7, 2014, on surveillance cameras after the dog got out of a fenced-in yard.

Marissa Ranello and Shawn Glancy thought that would be the last time they would see the then-7-year-old Yorkshire terrier, according to Staten Island Advance.

But nearly three years later, the couple has been reunited with their dog.

"It was a total fluke," Ranello told the Advance.

She saw a post on social media for lost dogs and recognized the unique coat on the dog in the photo. Everyone met and Dee Dee was finally back home.

Ranello, who was six months pregnant with her son when the dog was lost, is excited for the two to meet.

"We are ecstatic. We're shocked," Ranello told the Advance. "We're extremely happy."
