A police officer in New York did the unexpected and it brought smiles to a group of kids playing football.
The parents who were watching were expecting the kids to be yelled at, but that's not what happened.
When Officer Chris Toleman got out of the car, he picked up the football and joined the game, WTEN reported.

He actually played for about 45 minutes, and of course it was caught on camera.
The kids were thrilled. The mother of one of the kids said that her son talked about it all night, WTEN reported.
The community's police chief said that the game isn't out of the ordinary for Toleman, who has been on the force for about two years. He wants to make kids feel a little more comfortable being around police, WRIC reported.
