Lillie Wright had been friends with Beau's Coffee Shop worker Trevor for years.
When it was time for her to go to prom, she could think of no one else she with whom wanted to go.
She walked into Beau's in Wilmington, North Carolina, Monday and held up a sign for Trevor, who has Down syndrome, to read.
"I like coffee, I like tea. Would you go to prom with me?" the sign read.
And the promposal was caught on video, which was posted to the coffee shop's Facebook page.
Coffeeshop owner and Lillie's mother, Amy Wright, said her business is "run by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities."
Wright wrote on the caption for the YouTube video that her daughter "has always seen the value in every person -- especially Trevor. She couldn't wait to ask him to prom and he enthusiastically said, 'Yes!'"
