Five people were thrown into waters off the coast of New York early Thursday when a U.S. Coast Guard boat overturned while assisting a vessel, according to WPIX.

All five people on the 25-foot rescue boat managed to swim to shore, where emergency medical personnel tended to them. They were expected to be okay, WPIX reported.

Authorities received a distress call from the fishing vessel Carolina Queen III Thursday morning, according to the TV station. They responded around 4:30 a.m.

Seven people were on the Carolina Queens when it ran aground near Far Rockaway, Queens. At least two had been rescued by 7:30 a.m. Thursday, according to WPIX.
