The stunning cleverness of killer whales, particularly when it comes to hunting, has been well documented over the years. One whale at Seaworld San Diego proves to be no exception.

The cunning orca, Kalia, can be seen gently tossing a fish on the ledge of her enclosure, just close enough to get the attention of a group of birds that had huddle near the water's edge.

Slowly, the whale backs away and watches as a nervous bird approaches the fish, eyeing the black and white mammal.

Eventually, the seagull makes the deadly decision to lunge for the seemingly easy meal.

The bright killer whale sees her chance and leaps out of the water.

The bird tries his best to escape, rocketing into the air, but he's just not fast enough to avoid the orca's teeth.

Moral of the story: if a killer whale wants to eat you, there's a good chance she'll figure out a way to do it.
