A captivated audience shared a scary moment when a slingshot ride at a French amusement park malfunctioned, leading to a broken leg for one rider.

The video, uploaded on YouTube on Friday, captures the slingshot ride going up and down before one of the lines breaks while the ride makes its way to the bottom. The ball containing the riders then swung into one of the supports to the side, crashing into it before coming to a stop.

According to The Local, the ride is known as a reverse bungee and the incident happened at Luna Park, at Cap d'Agde on the coast of southern France.

A 24-year-old woman, who was on the ride, was taken to the hospital with a broken leg while another rider left with no serious injuries, French newspaper Hérault 24 reported. The officials at the theme park referred to the accident as a "manufacturer's defect" in the elastic of the line.

The ride is now closed while an investigation into the incident takes place.
