Police are searching for the woman caught on camera stealing an exotic bird from a pet store.

The store's owner says the White-eyed Conure is extremely friendly, which is why it was so easy to take.

Surveillance video shows a woman, a man and a child walk into a Florida pet store and walk right out with the bird.

"He would go to anybody, so he jumped right on her finger, and she scooped him up under her arm, and out the door she went," Danny Conlin, owner of Pet World told Action News Jax.

The video shows the woman take the bird and leave the store -- all while another customer, the owners and a cashier were nearby.

Conlin was in the back when it happened.

When he finally realized the bird was missing, he reviewed the security video.

Conlin was shocked by the theft from the woman, but even more surprised with the reaction of the child who was with her.

“It was disturbing to see the child celebrating as she stole the bird, and realizing that they were going home with a nice new bird. It really bothers me. It’s not any lesson I would teach any child,” Conlin said.

Later, the woman and child pulled away in an Escalade.

Conlin said the little guy was worth $600, but the money isn’t the only thing he is worried about.

“Most of the people that we sell the birds to, we know them. They are customers. These people, we do not know, and yes, it bothers me,” Conlin said.

According to the police report, the suspect who stole the bird is facing a third-degree felony, if caught.
