From the looks of the three-legged yellow Lab, he probably has quite the story to tell.
"He's a little bit of a pirate so I called him Captain Jack," lodge manager Misty Carlton said.
But no one knows what happened to his leg, all they know is a rescue group found him.
They don't mind the three-legged situation out there at the Boys' Home.
"A lot of times it's not uncommon for the guys to have a bad day out here," youth minister and volunteer coordinator Jeff Johnson said.
Captain Jack is here to help the boys in a way only a dog could.
"Seeing a dog's happy face running up to you with like tongue sticking out brings everybody's attitude you know, pretty high," Andrew Payton said.
"It gives you something to take your mind off of the things that got you down," TJ Brato
Payton and Bratu are two of the more than 60 boys who will help take care of captain Jack.
"It gives the guys a responsibility," Carlton said.
The boys have already been able to practice their dog sitting skills for about a year now with Twister.
Twister was donated to the boys' home by the same rescue that donated Captain Jack.
Jeff Johnson said having Twister around proved to be beneficial.
"He kind of seems to have a sense of where he needs to be and when he needs to be there," Johnson said.
In the two short days Captain Jack's been living at his new home, he's already fitting right in.
There are six lodges at the Boys' Home with about 12 boys that live in each of them. Johnson said the goal is to get every lodge their own dog.
