Earlier this year, 5-year-old Bennett Williams became enamored with University of Alabama-Birmingham's logo.

Then he heard the bad news: UAB football was done. With his quick wit, Williams reacted the only way he knew how: He donated his allowance money—a whole dollar—to the athletic department to keep the program going.

In a handwritten note, Bennett said, "Dear UAB, My name is Bennett. I love Ohio State, but I think you should have football too. Here is one dollar to help." See his master penmanship below:

His effort was not lost on the program. Bennett received a package from UAB a few days later.
