The chain nodded to the increase in sales with a tweet Sunday.

"We are absolutely delighted with what we saw over the weekend, particularly the consumer sentiment that we saw expressed," Kim Lopdrup, CEO of Red Lobster, told CNBC. "It's clear that Beyonce has helped create some Red Lobster fans, and we are very grateful to her for that."

CNN reported that Red Lobster spokeswoman Erica Ettori said the restaurant chain trended on Twitter for the first time ever over the weekend and was mentioned on the site 42,000 in one hour.

In response to what the company is calling the "Beyonce Bounce," some employees are renaming menu items after the superstar, mainly replacing "bay" in items with "Bey."

Red Lobster's first acknowledgment of Beyonce referencing it was in a pun-filled tweet, which wasn't received well.

In response to backlash, it tweeted, "You try to bake Cheddar Bay Biscuits and tweet at the same time. #harderthanitlooks #Formation"
