Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, his wife and a handful of others became trapped in an elevator Wednesday during a tour of an affordable housing complex in suburban Miami.

No one was hurt, but the group, including the Cabinet secretary, was stuck for at least 15 minutes until Miami-Dade fire rescuers were able to free them from the malfunctioning elevator, according to NBC Miami.

Former Miami Heat and NBA star Alonzo Mourning was waiting in the lobby for Carson, who is on a national listening tour. The complex was part of a project sponsored by the Mourning Family Foundation, Mourning's nonprofit, for low income residents.

The Miami Herald reported that Mourning profusely apologized once Carson made it back to firmer ground, and Carson asked about "the key" before getting on the next elevator.

President Donald Trump tapped Carson, a 2016 Republican presidential candidate and former neurosurgeon, to head up HUD, despite Carson’s lack of experience in the housing sector.
