A 2-month-old child was found in a crashed vehicle Monday after police said the child's parents became unconscious because of a possible drug overdose.

The Miami Herald reported the infant was unharmed in the crash, which happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday in Miami. The infant's parents were found incoherent. Miami Police tweeted at 4 p.m. on Monday that the child's parents were found unconscious of a possible overdose on heroin.

"It could be drugs; it could be food poisoning. We don't know,'' Miami police spokesman Freddie Cruz told the Herald.

NBC Miami reported that the infant's mother was found outside the car with the child, who was strapped in a car seat, while the father was in the driver's seat. The crash didn't cause injuries and both adults were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The infant was placed in the custody of a guardian and the Florida Department of Children and Families is investigating the case, police said.

This case comes days after a photo of two parents in Ohio who overdosed on heroin in a vehicle with their child went viral.
