Apple announced Tuesday that their AirPods – the wireless headphones introduced with the Apple 7 in September – are now available to order online.
The bad news: If you were hoping to order a pair for delivery before Christmas, you’re out of luck. As of Wednesday morning, the earliest delivery date is Jan. 13.
"AirPods will be shipping in limited quantities at launch and customers are encouraged to check online for updates on availability and estimated delivery dates," Apple said in a press release Tuesday.
The better news: Apple says they will be arriving in Apple stores next week.
According to rumors, Apple had some trouble with the AirPods that delayed the launch this past September, but they appear to have corrected any issues, and the much-anticipated headphones are ready to go, the company says.
They are small, and you get two. You get five hours of battery life on one charge.
If you lose one or have one stolen, you will be able to purchase a replacement, Apple said, though the company didn’t say how much it would cost to do that.
The wireless headphones can be used with all Apple devices running the latest version of iOS 10, watchOS 3 or macOS Sierra. The headphones will allow users to “automatically play and pause ... music.” You can also access Siri, Apple’s “personal assistant.”
