A man is in custody after scaling the White House fence and making it onto the North Lawn Wednesday evening — the third instance of someone jumping the White House fence in the past two months.
Fox News obtained a video of the suspect fighting off one of two Secret Service dogs. He reportedly got 20 to 25 yards from the fence before being stopped.
JIM ACOSTA VIA CNN: "At that point, the Secret Service released its K-9s on that individual. He was taken down by two dogs almost immediately, I am told."
And according to initial reports, those dogs seemed to be the biggest difference between this latest incident and the one in which a man — 42-year-old Omar Gonzalez — made it into the White House Sept. 19.
Some reporters commented on how Wednesday's situation was contained much more quickly because of the Secret Service K-9s.
In response to the Sept. 19 incident, the Secret Service installed a second fence and changed safety protocols, including locking the White House door.
It's uncertain if security around the White House had been stepped up even more Wednesday following a deadly shooting at a Canadian government building. The suspect and the Secret Service dogs were later treated for injuries.
