New information has surfaced about Monday's discovery of a human body being eaten by an alligator indicating that multiple alligators were involved and that the corpse was days old.
CBS Miami reported that two fisherman found the body Monday in a canal on the edge of the Everglades, and the body was largely intact when it came out of the water. A Miami Herald story said two alligators — one big, one small — were seen eating the remains. The Sun Sentinel said the body had "been in the water for a long time."

“What happened to them? How did they end up here? Could it be a homicide, could it be a suicide, could it be natural, a fisherman? We don’t know," Davie Police Sgt. Pablo Castaneda told CBS Miami. "That’s what the next step is to figure that out.”
The Sun Sentinel reported that it was unclear whether the body was in the water because of an alligator attack or another reason. "If we determine that an alligator was the cause, then we'll go back and recover it," said Amy Moore, a spokeswoman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
An identity and cause of death are being investigated.
