An Alabama man is accused of using his cellphone to record a minor using the bathroom at a Florida interstate rest stop last week, police said.

Gustavo Alberto Arias Maldonado, 34, was charged with video voyeurism, WTXL reported. Maldanado was released from the Madison County Jail after posting a $50,000 bond, the television station reported.

According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred Aug. 2 at a rest stop on Interstate 10 about 100 miles east of Tallahassee, AL.com reported.

The child, whom police said was under 16, told authorities a man was reaching under a private stall in the rest area bathroom to record him on a cellphone, the website reported. The child's mother confronted Maldonado, who allegedly fled the scene, AL.com reported.

Deputies said the child's mother provided an "excellent" description of Maldonado and the vehicle he was driving, WTXL reported.

Deputies located Maldonado, who admitted he was at the rest stop but denied filming anyone, according to AL.com. He surrendered his phone to deputies, who said they located the video, the website reported.

Maldonado was subsequently arrested.
