Tesla’s Elon Musk surpasses Amazon’s Jeff Bezos as richest man
With a net worth of more than $185 billion, Tesla founder Elon Musk is the richest person in the world.
CNBC reported that Thursday’s increase in Tesla’s stock price pushed Musk past Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who is currently worth about $184 billion. Bezos had been the richest person since 2017.
Musk was muted in his response to the news, replying “How strange” to a tweet that said he was now the world’s richest person.
“Well, back to work,” he replied right after.
Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires list has Musk at No. 1 at the time of this story’s publication, listing his total net worth at $189.5 billion.
