Ice Cube has responded to criticism after it was announced that he worked with the Trump administration on what White House senior adviser Katrina Pierson called the “Platinum Plan" for the Black community.

“Shoutout to @icecube for his willingness to step up and work with @realDonaldTrump Administration to help develop the #PlatinumPlan,” Pierson tweeted Wednesday.

Included in the tweet was a link to the plan, which outlines the Trump administration’s goals to support Black Americans.

The response to the former NWA rapper working with Trump and his campaign was one of confusion and criticism.

Cube tweeted on Wednesday what he said were facts about the Contract with Black America plan. He said both Democrats and Republicans contacted him, but Democrats said “we’ll address the CWBA after the election.” He said Trump’s campaign “made some adjustments to their plan” after talking to Cube and his team about the Contract with Black America.

He also replied to radio personality Danny Morrison, who said his hip-hop hero had “jumped the shark.”

“My Hip-Hop HERO @icecube is working with the Darkside. I haven’t felt this low since Kobe passed. HEARTBREAKING,” Morrison tweeted. “Cube, I’m not sure you understand how much we value your voice. And when we see you ‘jumping the shark,’ it KILLS us. Especially in 2020.”

“Every side is the Darkside for us here in America," the rapper replied. "They’re all the same until something changes for us. They all lie and they all cheat but we can’t afford not to negotiate with whoever is in power or our condition in this country will never change. Our justice is bipartisan.”
