It will feel warm in North Georgia again. Just don’t expect toasty temperatures Monday, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Temps are not expected to get out of the 40s for metro Atlanta. Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said the door is open Monday to cold air out of Canada, and it will keep Georgia chilly for the first half of the week.
“Much warmer weather is going to move in,” he said. “In fact, by Thursday, we’ll have highs between 60 and 65. That’s going to feel pretty nice.”
The region just has to get through a couple of cold days first. Monday’s projected high is 47 degrees, according to Channel 2.
There is also a 20 percent chance of an isolated sprinkle Monday morning, and Monahan said that could mean a few snow flurries in the northeast Georgia mountains. Any snow will not amount to much and should not be cause for concern, he said.
“Today is about the only day we’re going to see the chance of a little bit of rain,” he said. “It should be dry Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. That will change, though, for the weekend.”
A 60% chance of rain returns to the forecast Saturday, according to Channel 2.
Monahan said Monday should see increasing amounts of sunshine as clouds clear throughout the day. The clear sky will leave North Georgia open to an even colder start Tuesday, with lows in the 20s, he said.
Early crashes reported Monday morning have cleared quickly, making the way for a delay-free start to the morning drive, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
There are no major backups at 6 a.m., the Traffic Center reported.
