North Georgia is looking at a completely dry work week.
There is no rain in the forecast through Friday, even though a cold front is slated to come through midweek, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan. Until then, temperatures will be average with highs in the low 70s, he said.
“Today, tomorrow and Wednesday all will be quiet days,” Monahan said. “Now, I can’t say they will be warm days. In fact, today and tomorrow will be the warmest. By Wednesday, we will start to see cooler temperatures push in.”
Atlanta will make a 10-degree temperature drop Wednesday, he said, topping out at a projected high of 63 degrees. Monday’s projected high is 72, which is right on target for this time of year.
Temperatures are in the 40s and 50s to begin the day. There are a few patchy clouds around, but Monahan said there will be “a lot of sunshine for you later on this afternoon.”
Tuesday should be the warmest day this week with a projected high of 75 degrees. Monahan said it will stay dry as a cold front arrives Wednesday and cooler weather moves in behind it.
“We’ve got a mix of clouds and sunshine,” he said. “It should stay mainly dry, but it is going to be noticeably cooler. Wednesday and Thursday we’ll be in the low 60s, but we’re back to near 70 on Friday.”
Rain returns for the weekend with a 90% chance of thunderstorms Saturday, according to Channel 2.
“It’s going to be kind of wet, kind of soggy as we head into your Saturday,” Monahan said.
With dry pavement for the Monday morning drive, traffic conditions are light on metro Atlanta interstates, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Only one early crash is causing problems in west Atlanta. A car rolled onto its roof on I-20 West and is blocking the entrance ramp to Lowery Boulevard, the Traffic Center reported.
“Starting to see the outbound delays leaving downtown out toward the Westside Perimeter,” traffic reporter Mark Arum said. “Thankfully no eastbound delays into the city.”
Until the crash clears, commuters can take Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard or Marting Luther King Jr. Drive as alternates, he said.
