Temperatures are staying put in the mid-60s as congestion remains heavy across metro Atlanta during the evening commute.

Back roads in Midtown are slow because of construction on Peachtree Street at 26th Street blocking a right northbound lane, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

DeKalb County hasn’t been spared either with two right I-285 North lanes near Shallowford Road being blocked by a wreck, the Traffic Center reported.

If Monday morning brought a chill to your system, you’ll appreciate the afternoon.

Temperatures are in the mid-60s around metro Atlanta, where it is mostly sunny, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

But, Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton warned, temps will “start dropping quickly once the sun goes down.” Lows overnight are again expected to be in the 40s in Atlanta.

Things should warm up slightly over the next several days, with rain chances increasing by the end of the week.

After weeks of unseasonably high temperatures, this week is expected to see below-average conditions, Minton said.
