Nearly two months after three people were shot at a Fourth of July party, Rockdale County authorities said one of the shooting victims died, leading investigators to obtain a murder warrant.
Omeish Stewart, a father of four who was among the three shooting victims, died Aug. 26, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Deputies accused 20-year-old Deanston Junior Elvis Wright, also known as “Chip-Chop,” of the deadly shooting. He remains on the run.
The shooting took place about 3:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Kinmor Industrial Parkway, AJC.com previously reported. The sheriff’s office said the gunfire erupted during a joint-Independence Day celebration and birthday party. The other two shooting victims have not been identified, and the extent of their injuries was not released.
At the time, Deputy Lee Thomas said that multiple shooters were suspected in the incident. Wright has been the only person identified and charged.
The sheriff’s office is asking for assistance locating Wright, who has ties to east metro Atlanta, Florida, New Jersey, New York and Jamaica. Deputies believe he may have left Georgia but is likely still in the country. The sheriff’s office added that he’s likely removed all of his hair in an effort to change his appearance.
