Police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with the weekend shooting death of a man at a Gwinnett County apartment complex.

Marcus Harris, 24, of Albany, faces felony murder and aggravated assault charges after allegedly shooting Marlon Walker at the Durant at Sugarloaf apartments early Sunday, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

Walker, 32, was found at the complex on St. Marlowe Drive about 2:30 a.m. with at least one gunshot wound to the chest, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, which is near Lawrenceville.

Witnesses said Harris and Walker had a physical altercation in the parking lot before the shooting.

Police said the department’s homicide unit received information about Harris’ possible whereabouts Tuesday and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Squad traveled there.  He was arrested in Riverdale.

“It is our hope that the arrest of Marcus will start to bring Marlon’s family some closure,” the police department said.

Harris is being held in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond before his first court appearance Thursday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
