A man is behind bars, two days after a woman was found seriously injured from a gunshot wound at a northwest Atlanta gas station.

Maquell Jordan, 29, was quickly identified as a suspect in Tuesday morning’s shooting and has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was booked into the Fulton County Jail later that day.

Police responded to a Citgo station on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive shortly before 2 a.m. regarding the wounded woman and learned the shooting occurred along Sandy Creek Drive. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has asked for an update on her condition.

A gray Jeep was part of the crime scene. Authorities did not say if the woman drove the Jeep from Sandy Creek Drive to the gas station or if she was found inside it.

Police did not clarify the relationship between Jordan and the victim.
