Three juveniles were arrested this week in connection with a series of home break-ins in the Brookhaven area, DeKalb County police said Thursday.

Detectives believe the suspects -- 11, 14 and 16 years old -- were involved in at least 15 or more burglaries in the community since late December.

When officers saw a beige Ford Expedition on Tuesday that fit the description of a vehicle seen leaving some burglarized homes, they conducted a traffic stop, police said. The three juveniles were detained in the vehicle on Briarwood Way.

Inside the vehicle, authorities found what detectives believe were items stolen from homes on Plaster Road earlier in the day, including flat-screen televisions, laptops and iPods. A gun also was found, police said.

The 11-year-old has been released from custody, while the 14- and 16-year-olds were taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center. Their names have not been released due to their ages.
