A child was in critical condition Sunday after nearly drowning in an Atlanta hotel pool, police said.

Atlanta police spokesman Lukasz Sajdak said police learned of the incident just before 10 p.m. Saturday and at 2 a.m. Sunday the child was alive, but in critical condition after being rescued from a pool at The Westin Peachtree Plaza.

The four-star Westin hotel is located at 210 Peachtree St. NW in Atlanta.
