The Spring 2019 session of the Woodstock Citizens’ Public Safety Academy — 11 weeks of insights into police and fire operations — is accepting applications for classes starting in late February.

Classes are scheduled to meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 28 to May 16. Applications are due by Feb. 25 and are available at the Woodstock Police Department, 12453 Highway 92, or at: https://bit.ly/2Wy6Uzc.

Students will learn about the Woodstock police and fire departments, the responsibilities of public safety personnel, and the inherent risks of the professions, officials said.

Topics to be covered include a CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter) seminar, criminal investigation, crime prevention, an extrication demonstration, thermal imagining cameras, fire safety and fire prevention.

Applicants must be at least 19 years old, submit to a background investigation, and live, work or have an interest in Woodstock.
