Woman shot in face in East Point
A woman was shot in the face Tuesday morning outside an East Point store, according to reports.
Around 7 a.m., police responded to reports of shooting outside a Shell gas station and store at 890 Cleveland Avenue.
"They were just talking, and he shot her," Timothy Johnson said of the victim and a man he said was the shooter. "He was talking to her in a ... gray car. Then he took off."
Joe Fendley was inside the store when he said Johnson came in and reported the shooting. When Fendley ran out, he said he saw the apparent shooter driving away in a small silver or gray sedan.
Then he went with other witnesses to check on the injured woman.
"She was shot in the left side of the head by the jaw," Fendley said. "And she was gasping for air."
Witnesses called police and an ambulance, and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital.
The condition of the woman was not immediately known.
