A Paulding County mother was killed Wednesday and her teenage son critically injured when she turned left in front of a pickup truck in Cobb County, police said.
Delores Sibert, 46, of Hiram was driving a Toyota Avalon eastbound on Dallas Highway just before 1 p.m. when she attempted to turn left into the Village Green Shopping Center just west of Due West Road, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.
Pierce said Sibert turned into the path of a Nissan Titan pickup truck that was westbound on Dallas Highway.
After the pickup struck the passenger side of the Toyota, the impact caused the car to spin and collide with a Toyota Sequoia sport utility vehicle that was waiting at the traffic light to turn onto Dallas Highway from the shopping center, Pierce said.
He said Sibert was pronounced dead at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Her 14-year-old son, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in critical condition.
The drivers of the pickup and SUV were not injured.
Pierce said no charges are expected to be filed.
