Atlanta police Wednesday were investigating an early-morning carjacking at a Buckhead apartment complex in which a man was pistol-whipped and his girlfriend kidnapped.

The victims were pulling into the parking deck of the Eon at Lindbergh apartments on Main Street, off Piedmont Road near the Lindbergh MARTA station, about 3:30 a.m. when they were approached by six or seven men wearing red bandannas, Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs told the AJC.

The men got the man out of his 2008 Chevrolet Corvette, pistol-whipped him and shot at him, Hobbs said.

"They then took his girlfriend out of the vehicle and put her into one of the vehicles they came in, a black Chevy Equinox," Hobbs said.

The carjackers, who were driving two black Equinoxes, then left with the victim's girlfriend and Corvette.

The woman was found about 6 a.m. at the Westlake MARTA station. Her condition was not immediately available, but Hobbs said she was being taken by MARTA police to Atlanta police headquarters to be interviewed.

Police were still looking for the stolen black Corvette, which has Georgia tag BQG4260, and the two black Chevrolet SUVs, one of which has Georgia tag BDY0713.
