A nasty rain storm in the Northeast continues to delay flights leaving Atlanta.

Departures from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to New York City's La Guardia are running 91 minutes behind schedule, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. That's a big improvement from earlier in the day, when flights were leaving Atlanta some 5 1/2 hours late.

Delays to Newark (N.J.) International are averaging two-plus hours, with flights to Kennedy International delayed nearly three hours. And flights en route to Boston's Logan International are running an hour late, the FAA reported at 5 p.m.

Check with your airline to determine if your flight is affected.

The storm, accompanied by flood warnings, sent construction debris fluttering to the streets in New York City and Jersey City, N.J. Some streets have been closed in lower Manhattan and light rail service was halted in Jersey City. In western Pennsylvania, flooded roads are closed and a motorist had to be rescued.
