Fulton county Commission

What: Commissioner William "Bill" Edwards will ask that special services district taxes collected from Johns Creek and Milton after they incorporated -- money the county has been sitting on for years -- be transferred to south Fulton.

When and where: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Fulton County Government Center's Assembly Hall, 141 Pryor St., S.W., Atlanta

What it means to you: Prepare for another north-south brouhaha. State legislation pushed by Rep. Jan Jones in 2008 required the county to return taxes the two cities paid for municipal-type services before they formed, but it did not say what to do with late taxes and monies from settled appeals that trickled in afterward. Fulton is holding about $116,000 from Johns Creek and $94,300 from Milton. Edwards maintains that the two communities gave up their right to special service district funds when they opted out, so the money belongs to unincorporated south Fulton. JOHNNY EDWARDS
