A website has been set up to help Fayette County parents and other interested citizens follow the process of selecting new health and physical education textbooks for K-12 students.

The site, http://bit.ly/FayetteHPEAdoption, details the process two established committees are following for choosing new materials for each curriculum. The committees include parents, educators, health care professionals and representatives from faith-based organizations who will meet in January and February to evaluate potential textbooks based on state education guidelines. The website includes the texts of the standards any materials must meet, plus contact information for asking questions.

After receiving teacher feedback, the committees will make recommended textbooks available for public review in March. The Board of Education will then vote on the selections in April or May.
