Vote resolves arts funding dispute

The Fulton commission will commit an extra $750,000 to the Arts & Culture Department in next year's budget, covering a shortfall created when the Finance Department moved millions in unspent grant monies into the countywide general fund during last year's budget balancing. Included in the millions were funds still owed to dozens of arts groups for 2010 and 2009 service contracts, which stirred fears of slashes to arts spending.

The commission voted, as part of Wednesday's consent agenda, to follow County Manager Zachary Williams' recommended solution.
