The woman found dead in a Suwanee home Monday has been identified as Dorothy Ann D'Anna, the Gwinnett County Police Department said.

D’Anna, 63, was found in her basement apartment by her landlords and a neighbor. The last time anyone heard from D’Anna was by phone on July 9, police told Channel 2 Action News.

The neighbor, Joshua Belcher, said D’Anna was under a blanket with a pillow “smushed” over her face when he and her landlords found her body. Police have not confirmed those details of how the body was found.

Paramedics alerted police when they arrived at the home on Collins Port Cove around 1 p.m. Monday, describing the scene as suspicious.

Police are investigating the case as a “suspicious death” and have not declared it a homicide. A cause of death has not yet been determined; police are waiting for the Gwinnett County medical examiner to do so.
