The McDonough City Council voted at its Feb. 17 regular meeting to approve an administrative variance request for property at 64 Atlanta Street.

The move, which was recommended by the city’s community development department, will allow for a reduction in front yard setback from 40 feet to 36 feet, which is within the 10 percent reduction threshold allowed by city code. The applicant asked for authorization to build four feet into the setback line to avoid disturbing existing parking on the shared property, according to a city staff report.

The vote to approve the variance request was unanimous.
