1:06 p.m. Carter had been scheduled to make a 1 p.m. appearance just east of Cleveland, to discuss his new book, "White House Diary," according to AJC's Political Insider. Carter was scheduled to call the AJC for a 20-minute interview on his way back to the airport. His publisher's schedule had Carter – who will turn 86 on Friday – making 16 appearances over 38 days, through Oct. 29, traveling from New York as far as Seattle and Salt Lake City. An Oct. 13 book-signing had been scheduled at the Carter Presidential Library.
12:58 p.m. Cleveland ABC affiliate WEWS crews at MetroHealth Medical Center reported an ambulance arrived with Secret Service crews and an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser following it. People in the emergency room at the hospital told their crew they were kicked out because they were told "President Carter is coming."

Cleveland Hopkins Airport officials said airport EMS crews were called to an incoming Delta flight at 11:30 a.m. for a passenger who felt sick. Upon arrival, they learned that the passenger was President Jimmy Carter. Airport EMS crews did an initial checkup of him on scene to see if he was OK, and he was then transported to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is currently. TV Web site.
12:48 p.m. CBS News radio sent the following alert to a WSB Radio reporter: "A person at the Carter Center in Atlanta tells CBS News former President Jimmy Carter became airsick after coming off an airplane in Cleveland today but is otherwise fine."
12:40 p.m. Cleveland TV station WOIO reports the former President was rushed to Metro shortly after landing at Hopkins late this morning. Apparently, Mr. Carter was not feeling well and the decision was made to take him to Metro. The 39th President of the United States is in town for a book signing at Legacy Village this afternoon.
12:35 p.m. CNN reports that former President Jimmy Carter is hospitalized in Cleveland after unknown health issue on plane, airport official says. We are checking into the report now.
