Uninjured man files first suit in Colorado shootings

July 27, 2012

The first lawsuit in connection with the Colorado theater shooting has been filed by a man who was not injured in the attack that killed 12 people a week ago.

Terrance Brown is suing the movie theater, the doctors of shooter James Holmes and the film studio that produced "Dark Knight Rises," which was showing in the theater where the attack took place, according to The Christian Post.

Brown contends that even though he was not physically injured, he was traumatized because his best friend, A.J. Boik, was killed in the assault.

The suit charges that Holmes' doctors did not properly monitor his medications and should have known of his violent tendencies; and that some of the scenes in previous "Dark Knight" movies may have motivated Holmes' attack.

The theater, the suit says, was negligent for having an emergency door that was not equipped with an alarm. This allowed Holmes to leave and re-enter the theater with a cache of weapons, the suit alleges.
