Two men have been arrested and charged in the murder of a Covington man police say they shot to death in a June home invasion.

Larry Grison Jr. of Lake Charles, La., and Ricky Matthews, 28, of Grand Rapids, Mich., are accused of murdering Calvin Banks, 34, on June 29, according to Newton County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jason Griffin. Also shot were Banks’ 16-year-old daughter, who was treated and released at an area hospital, and an unidentified 22-year-old man who remains in critical condition. Also in the home was a 2-year-old boy, who was not harmed, he said.

Grison was arrested the same day of the incident at the home on Appia Way. Matthews was taken into custody on July 9 in Macomb County, Mich., where he remains on previous charges. Griffin said he doesn’t know if or when Matthews will be extradited to Georgia.

Both men are charged with murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, cruelty to children, possession of firearm to commit crime and possession of marijuana.

More arrests are likely in the case, Griffin said.
