A recent Tucker High School graduate suspected in the death of an 18-year-old woman is being held in the Gwinnett County jail after being extradited from Texas.
Boris Mejia, 18, is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Detention Center on charges of arson and tampering with evidence in the death of Andrea Nassos, whose body was found May 20 in a burning car, according to jail records.
The younger Mejia was detained in Houston less than a week after his graduation.
Mejia’s father, Ignacio Mejia, 50, was also arrested. He is charged with tampering with evidence and hindering the apprehension of a criminal, police said.
Investigators said Nassos was killed in her apartment on Lavista Road in DeKalb County. Boris Mejia allegedly took the body to his home, where he dug a shallow grave in the backyard. But his father prevented him from burying Nassos there, police said.
Police said Boris Mejia next moved Nassos' body and her vehicle to Lucky Shoals Park, where the car was set on fire. The father then drove his son to Houston, Gwinnett police said.
A homicide investigation is under way in DeKalb County.
