Tucker boy, 4, drowns at Gwinnett pool party

Aug 18, 2015

A 4-year-old Tucker boy drowned last week at a birthday party in Gwinnett.

According to a Gwinnett County police incident report, the family of Tehuti Martinique was at the party on Riversound Drive near Snellville on Friday. The youngster’s mother was reportedly teaching two of her other children “how to hang on to the side of the pool wall and kick to stay afloat” when she noticed Tehuti was missing.

Family members and friends did not spot the child during a preliminary scan of the pool, but the home’s owner eventually spotted him, took off his clothes and dove in, police said. Tehuti was pulled out and CPR was administered until paramedics arrived.

The boy was taken to Eastside Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

“When asked who was around the pool at the time the child went missing, [the homeowner] stated almost everyone at the party was nearby …,” the police report said.

No charges have been filed in the case.
