Jurors watched surveillance video footage from the night that boxer Vernon Forrest was shot during the third day of the trial for one of three murder suspects.

DeMario Ware, 22, faces life in prison if convicted of murder in the death of the former boxing champion, gunned down near a southwest Atlanta gas station after he stopped to put air in his tires on July 25, 2009.

Ware has confessed to pointing a gun at Forrest and demanding his gold, championship ring and diamond Rolex watch, but he did not fire the series of shots that killed the boxer. After being robbed, Forrest chased Ware, who was able to run away and hide, according to testimony during the trial, which began Wednesday in Fulton County Superior Court.

As Forrest walked back to the gas station, he was confronted by another man, believed to be Charman Sinkfield. As Forrest walked away from Sinkfield, Sinkfield allegedly fired several shots, hitting Forrest seven times. A third suspect, Jquante Crews, is accused of being the getaway driver, picking up both Ware and Sinkfield and leaving the scene.

Jurors also watched video of Ware's confession to police, made nine days after Forrest's death. Ware told police he, Crews and Sinkfield talked about robbing Forrest before they got out of the car. During his confession, Ware said Sinkfield suggested robbing Forrest in front of the gas station, but Ware told him they should not because there are cameras.

Ten shell casings were found at the scene, according to Atlanta police Detective Brett Zimbrick, the lead investigator in the case. Zimbrick testified Friday morning.

The trial continues Monday at 9 a.m. for Ware, who is not expected to testify.

Trial dates have not yet been set for Sinkfield and Crews.
