Gwinnett County Police are asking the public's help in locating a transvestite man who allegedly snatched a woman's purse outside of a grocery store near Norcross last month.

The man, who has shoulder-length hair and goes by "Sarah," has since been identified as 33-year-old Serafin Gutierrez-Carvajal. He is wanted on charges of sudden snatching and possession of cocaine.

Gutierrez-Carvajal allegedly accosted a woman on Dec. 20 as she was walking toward her vehicle outside of the Kroger at 6050 Singleton Road near Norcross. He pushed her, snatched her purse off her shoulder and fled on foot, according to a police report.

The woman told police she recognized the robber as a neighbor who went by the name of "Sarah." During a subsequent search of the residence, officers located several small bags of cocaine and arrested two of Gutierrez-Carvajal's roommates, Franciso Javier Velasco-Bautista, 32, and Claudia Gomez-Perez, 32. Both are at the Gwinnett County jail, where they have holds for immigration violation.

Gutierrez-Carvajal is known to drive a black 1999 GMC Yukon and may be staying somewhere in Norcross, according to Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact Gwinnett Police at 770-513-5000.
