Workers continued over the weekend fixing a sinkhole near a main Johns Creek intersection.

On Monday, Fulton County Water crews were working on the sewer line break that caused a sinkhole disrupting traffic at State Bridge Road and Medlock Bridge Road, the city said on Facebook.

City spokeswoman Edie Damann told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the sinkhole was caused by erosion from water escaping the broken wastewater line. The hole is 10 to 15 feet deep.

The two far eastbound right lanes (right turn lane and right through-lane) on State Bridge Road were closed. One eastbound through-lane is open.

This is right in front of the shopping center with the Regal Cinemas Medlock Crossing 18 movie theater.

The Johns Creek Police Department said before the weekend that the closures would last "several days."

Damann said the county will fill the hole, install a new manhole and fix up the road.

“We anticipate significant improvements to the area by the end of the week. We appreciate everyone’s patience as work progresses,” Damann said.

She said there was not yet a cost estimate for what it will take to get the road back to normal.
