Thieves drove a stolen car through the security gates at a College Park pawn shop early Saturday but were unable to gain entrance.
Officer John Schneller said Clayton County police responded to an alarm sometime around 4 a.m. Saturday at Kings Pawn Shop on Riverdale Road, where they found an abandoned car partially inside the shop.
Schneller, a police spokesman, said that by the time officers arrived the would-be robbers " had realized they weren’t getting in and had already split.”
Although no merchandise was stolen from the store, owners estimated there was several thousand dollars worth of damage to the building.
Schneller said the incident, apparently caught on video, is under investigation.
