Q: What happened to Fox 5’s Mark Hayes on “Good Day Atlanta?”

—Erwin Sowell, Norcross

A: Hayes voluntarily left the show in early April, to become a morning anchor at KXAS-TV, a NBC affiliate in Dallas. He was on "Good Day Atlanta" for 10 years. "This has been an incredibly fast 10 years," Hayes said on his last show on April 6. "I can't believe how fast it's gone by. It's been an honor and privilege to work with all you guys because you guys are the best in the business. I'm going to miss you guys truly. You guys are friends and family." Hayes co-anchored "Good Day Atlanta" with Suchita Vadlamani, who left in 2010, for most of his time there. Last year, Hayes began anchoring from 5-7 a.m. and reporting from 7-9 a.m.

Taxpayers are paying for the estimated 400,000 Jubilee medals that will be awarded to key members of the armed forces, the police, the Prison Service, ambulance service and fire and rescue services. The Thames River Pageant was paid for by the Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation, a privately funded charitable trust. A proposed Royal Yacht would be paid for through sponsorships and private donations.
