Q: As a follow-up to my question about the NBA players not drawing a salary while on lockout, what was the average weekly/monthly salary an NBA player lost and what was the revenue loss to the owners and the NBA?

-- Michael B. Martin, Marietta

A: NBA players receive 24 paychecks a year, and the average NBA player missed out on $220,000, when the first regular-season checks would have been issued to the players on Nov. 15, CNBC sports business reporter Darren Rovell told radio station 670 the Score in Chicago. He added that Kobe Bryant missed a $1.05 million check. The 149-day lockout, which ended on Nov. 26, cost the NBA approximately a half-billion dollars in losses, The Associated Press reported.

Q: Now that we're less than one year away from the presidential election, what happens if an elector (to the Electoral College) dies, or becomes incapacitated between his/her election in November and the casting of electoral votes in December? Is the vacancy filled? How would it be filled/who would make an appointment?

-- Wayne Forester, Atlanta

A: If an elector becomes incapacitated after the November general election and before the Meeting of the Electors, state officials will name someone to replace the incapacitated elector, a representative with the Office of the Federal Register told Q&A on the News in an email. Title 3, Section 4 of the U.S. Code says states may establish a way to fill any vacancies in their college of electors when the electors meet to vote.
